3 Habits Your Successful 2018 Could Do Without

A new year means a new you. What worked this year may not help you so much next year, and so it may be time to drop a few bad habits if you want to grab 2018 by the horns.

1. Delaying investment in training

Learning should never stop. If you think your team of staff know everything there is to know about the work they do, then think again.

It's easy to play it safe, but if you want your business to stand out in the market, then train, train, and train again.

Just take your favourite football team for example; there's a reason why they're on top form - 40+ hours of training per week, to be exact.

But it's not just about strengthening your existing skills, it's equally important to gain new ones.

2. Acquiring knowledge

Now this may confuse you a little. How can being more knowledgeable ever be a bad thing?

Well, what you have to understand is, there's a difference between knowledge and skill.

In the era of Google and Wikipedia, anyone can acquire knowledge. Knowledge has little value. The practical application of knowledge, on the other hand, is where you need to set your sights.

It's not what you know, it's how you apply it.

3. Looking for ideas at the top

You may think the greatest level of inspiration starts at the top. However, that's not usually the case.

Great ideas can come from anywhere. Employees on the front line directly interact with customers, often multiple times a day. They are more likely to know your clients than a director or CEO.

An employee lower down the ranks has less to lose, after all.
