Snapchat Spectacles: Everything You Need to Know

The world is going mad. But you love it really, don't you?

We're all guilty of playing around with Snapchat's rainbow filter now and again, and 10 seconds of snapping never quite seems to be enough...

So it's only right that the folks over at Snapchat crank things up a notch. In come the Snapchat Spectacles...

But what exactly are Snapchat Spectacles?

Essentially, they're connected sunglasses that can record video snippets which automatically save to your Snapchat Memories. With a powerful 115-degree camera lens, the Spectacles enable a person to share "snaps" from their point of view.

Sure, they look creepy and you might come across as a bit of a goof whilst wearing them, but that's part of the fun.

And... how do Snapchat Spectacles work?

Well, Snapchat's parent company, Snap Inc., insists they're really easy to use.

You can record a snap (picture or 10-second video) by tapping a button on the left rim of the sunglasses. A light then turns on, letting you and everyone around you know that you’re making a snap.

The Spectacles will automatically stop recording after 10 seconds, but you can tap again to add another 10-second increment. You're able to record up to 30 seconds at a time.

What about battery life?

If there's one thing that stands out about the Spectacles, it's the impressive battery power. The battery tends to last about a day. You get about a hundred 10-second videos out of every charge, which is more than enough for even the biggest Snapchat addict.

And the best bit? The sunglasses come inside a special charging case.

So where can I buy them from?

Unfortunately, the official Spectacles are currently limited to US customers only at a price of $129.99 (around £105).

At present, they're available to buy online in three colors - black, teal, and coral - and come with the charging case and USB cable. According to the Spectacles website, delivery should take between 2-4 weeks.

It's yet unclear how long it will be before Spectacles hit the shops here in the UK.
