Sending GIFs On WhatsApp Is Now A Thing

GIFs are the Beyonce of the internet – they move, and grab your attention. And now WhatsApp is joining in on the fun.

Often when posting our thoughts and feelings online, basic pictures and videos are just not enough. So what is a tweeter or social media enthusiast supposed to do? When searching far and wide for a way to express our emotions, GIFs are the only answer.

Luckily, they can now be used during private conversations on WhatsApp. In a new update, the app now enables users to search, send, but also more excitingly, turn existing videos into GIFs (as long as the clip is under six seconds long).

Plus, if your device offers Live Photo capability, such images can be transformed into animated GIFs too.

Version 2.16.16 provides the GIF search functionality from within WhatsApp, making it quick and easy for you to get your message across.

So how do I send GIFs?

Well, it’s very simple. To search for, and then send, a GIF, click the shiny '+' button.

Next, select ‘Photo & Video Library’ and your camera roll should appear. As part of the latest update, a small magnifying glass is now shown in the bottom left-hand corner with the word ‘GIF’. Select this, and rows of brilliant GIFs will appear, ready for you to play with!

WhatsApp’s GIF integration follows on from Facebook and Twitter finally supporting the animated images. Now go make some magic happen!
