Google Maps Now Helps You Find Where You Parked Your Car
Mar 21, 2017
If you've ever found yourself going, "Dude, where's my car?" one too many times, this handy new feature from Google can help you remember where you've left your pride and joy.
Never lose your head or your car ever again. Just park your car, open up Google Maps, and tap on the blue location dot. You'll be presented with a new menu offering to "save your parking". And it's that simple.
However, whilst such a tool alone would struggle to come to your aid in a multistory parking lot, or floors of a garage with similar-looking layouts, there are advanced options that let you store tons of information you need to find your car again.
For instance, you're able to take notes about the parking spot and attach pictures to remind you where the car is parked. If there's a parking meter, you can even set a "time left" field that will count down the time remaining, making sure you never overstay your welcome and dodge the risk of a fine.
Whilst you're away from your ride, Maps will spawn a notification reminding you that you have a saved parking location. The notification and the "P" icon on Google Maps will stick around until you open the parking information and hit "clear" or until you save a different parking spot.
The feature is currently available on Google Maps on Android (v. 9.49).
